Mwana asingacheme anofira mumbereko... (A baby who does not cry will die strapped to his mother's back...literal).... reflecting on the goings on in the office environment and beyond one can't help but reflect on the wisdom of this Shona idiom. Its meaning being that only a child who screams, wails and basically makes enough noise to draw its mother's attention will be served and saved from all manner of ills and deprivation... feels to me like the way of the world is such and human condition is to live this out... on both ends... and indeed to the extremes. I can't help but wonder if this is the script of life... make the most noise and be heard... ignore anything which does not make noise or cause you discomfort... and effectively create an equation which says: result is the sum of having a need that needs addressing, and making a hell of noise to the target and whoever else has ears to hear. Writing this out like this; I can sort of see how in this very inefficient world of excess this actually makes sense; and I feel silly for expecting otherwise... almost like I should feel guilty for having a sense of entitlement to the address or redress of a need or issue based on general (and sometimes specific) understandings in the various spheres of corporate and personal life... On that note... I will leave this script and reflect on this some more.
